If you are wondering which is the best way to clean and wash your stainless steel cookware then this is just the article for you. I have a lot of stainless steel pans and pots that honestly I had no idea how to clean in the past. I used to wash them with hot soapy water until I actually learned that this is not the ideal method to follow – in fact, hot water can damage them.
I noticed that my stainless steel cookware started having discolourating, yellowish marks and stains on the inside and outside – and then I decided to start searching what the proper cleaning method for washing them is. And today, I am going to share what I learned with you!
Avoid doing these things!
Okay, before we actually get to the cleaning part, I want to share what not to do!
Avoid using scouring pads or steel wool whenever cleaning your stainless steel cookware. They can scratch the surface and leave marks!
Avoid using harsh chemicals when cleaning them – do not use detergents that have bleach or ammonia! This will cause discolouraton!
Do not let your stainless steel pots and pans air dry – this will form hard water stains! Instead, dry them with a paper towel!
And last – avoid using hot water, it will also cause discolourating!
And now that you know what not to do – it’s time to teach you how to clean them properly!
How To Clean Stainless Steel Cookware?
Start off with squeezing lemon juice in the pan then add a bit of salt. Leave both ingredients a few minutes then sprinkle more salt and start scrubbing with a sponge.
Once you get rid of all the food, sauce, and other impurities – rinse and dry with a paper towel!
How To Remove Burn Marks?
Flip the pan upside down then sprinkle baking soda on the bottom. Grab a cloth and start rubbing the baking soda. You can also dampen the cloth if the burn marks are really stubborn.
Then just rinse and dry with a paper towel!
