Can you name one breeding ground for germs? Well, I will – your children’s toys. This is why you need to disinfect them properly, however, different toys require different disinfecting methods.
The best way to disinfect stuffed animals
Stuffed animals are the easiest to disinfect if I have to be honest. Washing them in the washing machine once a week on the hottest cycle possible is enough to get rid of any bacteria.
Of course, if the toy is delicate you can also wash them by hand with laundry detergent and hot water.
The best way to disinfect plastic toys
Plastic toys that do not have batteries or aren’t electric can be washing in the dishwasher. Yes, in the dishwasher! Just put the toy on the top rack and wash them with the same liquid detergent you use on your dishes.
What about larger toys or the battery-operated ones?
If you are dealing with larger toys or the ones that operate with batteries then you need to disinfect them with bleach.
Mix warm water and chlorine bleach then place it in a spray bottle. Then spray the toys and allow the solution to sit for a few minutes before wiping it.
Then wipe the toy using a damp cloth or a damp sponge in order to remove the bleach solution.
