I think we can all agree that waffles are amazing whether you like them sweet or savory. They are one of my favorite breakfast and I make them quite often. Unfortunately, that means that I need to clean the waffle iron which is not the ideal way to finish a good breakfast…
How to clean a waffle iron?
So what is the easiest way to clean this amazing small appliance?
The first thing that you need to do is unplug the waffle iron and let it cool off.
Then you would want to grab a paper towel and remove the crumbs. You can also absorb the excess oil if there is any.
Continue with mixing two cups of warm water with a couple of drops of a liquid soap. You would want to damp a clean cloth in the mixture and start wiping the waffle iron. Once you are done and the appliance is clean you want to remove the soapy mixture off of the surface by using another wet cloth.
Of course, don’t forget to clean the outside as well as the inside. Wipe the exterior with the same mixture.
You want to deep-clean the waffle iron?
Simply make a paste using baking soda and a couple of drops of hydrogen peroxide. Coat the inside of the appliance and let it sit for about an hour. If the outside of the waffle iron feels sticky and greasy you can apply the paste there as well.
It’s normal for the paste may turn brown since it is absorbing the excess oil and grease.
Then you want to remove the paste with a damp cloth.
